2010s soft kawaii emerged circa 2013-2015 as a gentler, more muted counterpart to bright kawaii, favoring dreamy pastel palettes, soft textures, and an emotionally tender sensibility. Pastel goth overlaps it closely, minus the darker edge. Tumblr fans of Rilakkuma and soft Japanese aesthetics carried it. Oversized sweaters in lavender, mint, or baby pink are the signature. Kawaii-character soft-print T-shirts and pleated circle skirts in blush or cream fill out the rest. White knee socks and Mary Jane shoes go underneath. Plush backpacks and cloud-motif accessories complete it, with hair in gentle waves or twin-tails tied with pastel ribbons.
