Mavira is an AI-powered fashion discovery platform—an AI outfit finder and AI shopping assistant built to help you find small clothing brands, independent fashion designers, and secondhand sellers that actually match your style.

Mavira was built around a simple frustration: the best clothing online is almost impossible to find. Independent designers and hidden gem clothing brands get buried beneath fast fashion giants like Shein, Zara, and H&M, and even the best secondhand marketplaces can take hours of scrolling to yield one or two pieces you actually like.

Our co-founders, Aubrey Stevens and Danny Collinson, lived this problem as students at Caltech. Aubrey and her friends spent hours browsing Depop and Poshmark just to walk away with one or two pieces they liked—and when they searched for small, independent clothing brands that matched their style, many of the “small brands” that surfaced turned out to be dropshippers or outright scams. Aubrey, like most of her friends, got burned more than once.

Meanwhile, the small fashion businesses making genuinely beautiful clothing were paying enormous marketing costs just to get discovered. The problem cut both ways: shoppers couldn't find what they wanted, and the independent designers making it couldn't afford to reach them.

After graduating from Caltech in 2024, Aubrey and Danny started building Mavira as a side project during a complicated year—Aubrey was recovering from gallbladder surgery, and Danny was navigating a brutal tech hiring market. What began as a scrappy experiment became something bigger. Aubrey postponed grad school, and Mavira—a female-founded, student-founded fashion tech company—officially launched on December 12, 2025. We're a Denver, Colorado-based fashion startup.

Mavira is a fashion search engine powered by style-matching AI. Upload a photo of an outfit you love—a Pinterest inspiration pic, a screenshot from Instagram, a picture of yourself in a thrifted piece you adore—and our machine learning model interprets the style of the look: its aesthetic, its vibe, the way the pieces are put together. We then match you with products from our network of vetted independent brands and secondhand sellers that share that style.

This is more than a reverse image search for outfits. We're not just matching pixels—we're matching aesthetics. Finding clothing that fits a specific aesthetic or subculture is one of the hardest parts of shopping online—mainstream retailers don't stock it, and searching for it directly tends to flood you with generic fast fashion. Whether you're into a well-known aesthetic or something so niche it barely has a name, we've built a collection for it.

We serve shoppers of all genders, with gender-neutral fashion discovery, unisex independent brands, plus-size independent designers, and petite small-brand clothing all represented. Our goal is to fill every fashion niche—not just the ones algorithms usually reward.

Every seller on Mavira is vetted by us. That means no dropshippers, no shell-store scams, no fake “small brands” quietly reselling AliExpress inventory. We currently partner with dozens of independent designers and vetted secondhand clothing sellers. Some design and manufacture their own pieces; others curate thoughtfully sourced vintage and secondhand inventory. All Mavira products are guaranteed to ship within the United States, with global expansion actively in the works.

Most AI tools in fashion run on enormous, energy-hungry models trained in massive data centers. We went the opposite direction. Mavira's model is a working example of sustainable AI, low-carbon AI, and energy-efficient machine learning in practice—built from the ground up for efficiency and trained entirely on a laptop, avoiding the carbon footprint of industrial-scale GPU clusters.
