Venetian Carnival

This is a festival in Venice for Carnival, with its origins dating to the middle ages. Masks are one of the most important features, which are typically made of leather or porcelain molded into a variety of shapes and in the modern day use gesso and gold leaf and are hand painted and often adorned with feathers. Common outfits include ornate dresses in jewel tones, often made of velvet with gold details, fans, gloves, veils, large hats, and headpieces.
