New Wave Tropical
New wave tropical ran from the late 1970s to the mid-1990s, built on vibrant color and tropical rainforest imagery handled with freeform visual experimentation. Chunky irregular color shapes sometimes gave the effect of collage. Outfits carry bright colors and tropical prints, frequently abstracted or mixed with prints like animal print. Dresses and flowing tops make up the garments, alongside sarongs, with layering common throughout.
