This aesthetic began as a literary subgenre and focuses on macabre aspects of daily life, often focusing on a melancholy or eerie atmosphere. Likewise, many outfits also feature almost a haunting quality with mostly monochromatic colors and a mixture of flowing silhouettes and casual pieces.
