Metal is the aesthetic of heavy metal music, built on leather, band merchandise, and an aggressively masculine energy, emerging from the metal scene of the 1970s and 80s in celebration of rebellious rock culture. Black band tees or long-sleeves are the base. Black skinny jeans or cargo pants cover the bottoms. Leather jackets carrying patches go over the top. Combat boots go below, with spiked wristbands and studded accessories throughout.
