Beatnik is a 1950s bohemian counterculture style of black turtlenecks, berets, and visible intellectualism, born among writers and artists in Greenwich Village and San Francisco in rejection of mainstream conformity. Black turtlenecks and slim black trousers are the uniform. Berets go on top. Ballet flats, thick-rimmed glasses, and dark minimal jewelry complete it.
