Diner Kitsch

Diner kitsch is a design aesthetic originating in the 1970s as a revival of 1940s and 1950s iconography, particularly the imagery of diners, drive-ins, and malt shops. Clothing follows the same references. Red and white dominate, usually in striped, gingham, or checkerboard patterns. A-line dresses carry them most often. Modern interpretations shift the colors, patterns, or silhouettes, but usually keep at least one of the three.
