Acid House

Acid house is a late 1980s British rave subculture, spawned when Chicago house music reached the UK and built around the Roland TB-303 synthesizer's squelching 'acid' sound and hedonistic warehouse parties. The yellow smiley face became its symbol. Oversized neon or fluorescent T-shirts, often carrying that smiley, are the signature garment. Baggy raver trousers or dungarees go with them. Bucket hats, hooded anoraks, and Kickers shoes complete the look, with whistles and pacifiers as accessories reflecting MDMA culture.
