Acid House

A late 1980s British rave subculture spawned by Chicago house music imported to the UK, defined by the Roland TB-303 synthesizer's squelching 'acid' sound and a euphoric, hedonistic culture centered around warehouse parties. The iconic yellow smiley face became its symbol. Common pieces include oversized neon or fluorescent T-shirts often featuring smiley graphics, baggy raver trousers or dungarees, bucket hats, hooded anoraks, Kickers shoes, and whistles or pacifiers as accessories reflecting MDMA culture.
