Wartime Austerity

During WWII, clothes were rationed, leading to certain materials being unavailable and clothing becoming more functional. The war brought about new styles, such as glow in the dark accessories for blackouts, onesies that could easily be thrown on, and utility clothing. Other changes were made to save fabric, such as changing from double-breasted to single-breasted suits, less pockets, shirts becoming shorter, and the banning of double cuffs.
