Turquerie
This was Turkish fashion brought to Western Europe during the 16th-18th centuries as a result of changing trade routes. Styles became popular due to their "exotic" nature, with brightly colored styles of decoration, especially on timepieces, bright rich, and embroidered fabrics, which were often velvet with floral motifs. Loose, flowing gowns with ornate bands of embroidered cloth, tasseled turbans, lack of corsets, and strings of pearls were common in women's clothing.
