B Boy

The foundational street fashion of hip-hop breakdancing culture, born in the South Bronx in the early-to-mid 1970s alongside DJ culture and graffiti writing as one of hip-hop's four core elements. Practical for acrobatic dance movement yet expressive of community identity and individual style. Common pieces include tracksuits or matching athletic separates by Adidas or Puma, fresh athletic sneakers (particularly Adidas Superstar), oversized or fitted caps worn forward or to the side, shell-toe Adidas, windbreakers, and beaded or rope-chain necklaces — all kept clean and crisp as a point of pride.
